Why Nova Anime XL
Anime color and contrast people keep coming back for
Creators pick Nova Anime XL when they want lively anime color, solid Illustrious-style prompting, and a long public version history from Pony into Illustrious.
Anime / 2.5D / illustration focus
Public tags and positioning lean anime, colorful illustration, 2D and digital art — not a photorealism specialist.
Illustrious-era defaults
IL line tips commonly use Euler a, about 20–30 steps, and modest CFG (about 4–6), plus quality tags such as masterpiece / best quality.
Long public version trail
From early XL and Pony builds through many Illustrious IL releases up to v19, with author notes on color, poses, light, and merge recipes.
Sister Nova models
Same author also ships Nova Orange XL (skin/depth/scenery) and Nova Cartoon XL (toon look) — useful when you want a different Nova flavor.
Lineage
From early XL and Pony into Illustrious
Nova Anime XL did not stay on one base forever. Public versions moved from classic XL and Pony lines into the Illustrious ecosystem that most recent cards focus on.
- 1
Early XL and Pony years
Public history includes XL v1.0 and a long Pony-labeled series (about v1–v6) before the Illustrious shift.
- 2
Illustrious adoption
IL v1/v2 and holiday-named mid versions established the Illustrious merge path that later cards build on.
- 3
Ongoing IL refinements
Later IL builds (through the teens) adjust color depth, dynamic poses, male generation, and lighting/style feel.
- 4
IL v19.0 (current focus)
About 2026-05-12. Higher contrast and background detail; public merge notes mention NoobAI EPS v1.1 + Illustrious v2.0-stable + ChenkinNoob v0.5 DARE.

How to use it
A simple starting recipe
Run the safetensors file in ComfyUI, Forge, or Automatic1111, or test ideas in the browser playground. Match settings to the Illustrious-line tips on the model card.
1. Start with quality tags
Illustrious-style cards often show masterpiece / best quality style positives before your subject tags.
2. Use modest CFG
Try CFG about 4–6. Very high CFG is often unnecessary on these merges.
3. Euler a · 20–30 steps
A common public default: sampler Euler a, roughly 20–30 steps, SDXL-class resolution.
4. Test in the playground
Open the playground tabs to try a Nova Anime demo or multi-model spaces that list Nova checkpoints.
Playground
Try Nova models in the browser
Open the playground and switch tabs between the Nova Anime demo and multi-model tools (handy for Orange and Cartoon checkpoints).
Demos are third-party. Availability, listed models, and queue times can change upstream.
